Into The C’s of Diamond

No jewellery has such an illustrious history, such a glorious appeal as diamonds. Diamonds are the intensively exceptional natural crafts. They have come a long way from the depth of the land, to be the fashion statement and be the symbol of eternal love. Each piece of diamond undergoes the finest processes, creative curiosity and technical virtuosity to awaken the unimagined brilliance inside each sparkle.

Every diamond is forever, for a lifetime. Finding the best diamond that blends with your self is crucial. Choosing enchanting jewel involves selecting high-quality options for 4C’s that gives you the most brilliance and fire. The 4 C’s are the universal language of every diamond that enables everyone to understand the science of diamonds.

The ABC’S of 4 C’s

Carat
Carat is the term that denotes the unit of measurement of a diamond’s physical weight. Diamonds of higher carat are generally more valuable, as they are found rare in nature. A diamond’s value is not determined using Carat Weight, hence two diamonds of equal carat weight can have varied values depending on colour, clarity and cut. A 1 carat (ct) diamond weighs about 0.20 grams. Contrary to popular notion, the carat never defines the size of a diamond, it is measured in millimeters.

Cut
The diamond cut is the process through which the opaque rough skins of diamonds are polished into the sparkling, brilliant piece of art. It determines the visual beauty of diamonds by carving angles and facets to bounce and reflect light beams.  The cut is based on a combination of factors such as polish, proportions and symmetry. The angles, shapes, sizes and location of the facets determine the diamond sparkle.
Based on the cut diamonds are categorized into 4 grades.
Poor: From being too deep or shallow in height, these diamonds tend to leak a significant amount of light.
Good: They possess higher degrees of sparkle, capture high volumes of light with very low leakage of light.
Very Good: With significant less light leakage, the diamonds reflects all the potentials
Excellent: Crafted in a way to unleash brilliance and reflect maximum light

Colour
The colour of the diamond refers to its degree of the colourlessness or the presence of a tint of yellow/brown colours. The absence of color in a diamond is the rarest; and the more colourless, the rarer and higher the value of the diamond. White diamonds are a symbol of perfection and possess the highest colour purity. Based on the diamond colour grade scale, diamonds are categorized from D to Z, where D is the purest and best grade, and Z is the lowest. All D-Z diamonds are coloureless or white coloured, although they contain varying tint of colours. The fancy diamonds with various colours are graded on different grade scale.

Clarity
The natural flaws are the by-products of its formation; since every diamond undergoes high pressure. Clarity is the assessment of imperfections on the facets of diamonds. It addresses the blemishes- (surface flaws) and inclusions (internal defects) in every diamonds. These scars on diamonds are considered to be its natural birthmarks and they make these pieces unique. Diamonds with no characteristics of flaws are considered as Flawless (FL) or Internally Flawless (IF) diamonds. The clarity of a diamond is determined by size, location, nature and quantity.

“MAGIC SIZES”
Certain weights are considered as “magic sizes”, which includes half carat, three-quarter carat, and carat. Visually, there’s not much difference between a 0.99 carat diamond and one carat diamond, but the price varies significantly.

As the ultimate expression of true art, as the superlative exception of aesthetic brilliance, diamonds outshines everything around it. It’s not just an ornament that adorns your style, but an emotion intertwined for a lifetime.
